Research Programs & Projects
The Digital Health Innovation Fund supports the development of Canadian research programs through their use of the Platform, with the selected research projects also advancing the design and use of the Platform through user feedback. In parallel, the Innovation Fund stimulates collaboration among small- and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs) and academic healthcare research. Using this network effect, the DHDP will contribute positively to Canada's knowledge economy and its leadership in AI, while adopting a view toward the commercialization potential of research discoveries.
The Innovation Fund initially prioritizes oncology and neurology research programs. Since the Digital Health & Discovery Platform is a disease agnostic initiative, there is also inclusion of other areas of health and AI research where similar data is available, such as diabetes, cardiology, and ophthalmology (see below under Search).
