Bio
Dr. Nicole Mittmann is CADTH’s Chief Scientist and Vice-President of Evidence Standards. At CADTH, Dr. Mittmann leads a diverse portfolio that encompasses Health Economics, Research Information Services, Scientific Affairs, including Scientific Advice and Patient Engagement, and Implementation Support and Knowledge Mobilization. She is also responsible for building upon the agency’s strong methods frameworks and global networks with academia and representing CADTH both nationally and internationally. Current initiatives include harmonization of the deliberation process and frameworks and determining the role of real-world evidence at CADTH.
In her academic capacity, Dr. Mittmann holds a faculty position at the University of Toronto in both the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and the Institute for Health, Policy, Management and Evaluation. As an Associate Scientist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto she conducted and collaborated on notable research in the areas of economic evaluations, observational outcomes research and drug/patient safety.
Most significant work includes leading the construction of economic guidelines for oncology products1 and constructing costing algorithms for Ontario administrative databases to enable disaggregated costing, comparative analyses for models of care and real world cost-effectiveness analyses.
Determining the value of health technologies with respect to genetics will be key to understanding the future of cancer outcomes and costs. Reviewing technologies with an affordability and access lens will provide insight into data collection and outcome assessments.
